Daniel Murphy dropped a routine fly ball in the second inning which cost the Mets the game this afternoon. Murphy was going back on the ball, trying to feel for the wall when he inexplicably booted the ball which led to the two Marlins runs. Other than that fiasco Johan pitched a gem of a game as did Johnson as he always does against the Metropolitans.
The Mets finished there 6 game road trip with a 3-3 record and are headed home tomorrow night for the first game at Citi Field. It is reported that Tom Seaver will pitch the ceremonial first pitch to Mike Piazza. They closed Shea and are about to open Citi. I personally don’t like the idea of the Mets from the past opening a new era to the organization. Especially since the day they closed Shea was such a somber day, due to the second straight collapse.

Johan Santana will NOT be at Citi Field opener today, instead staying back in Florida to be with his wife, who will be giving birth in Fort Myers.
The couple is expecting a son, who will be named Johan Alexander Santana, Jr.
The ultrasound did not reveal whether the newborn will be a lefthander.
I think johan was way out of line after the game stating that he did his job and that Murphy error cost them the game. Although he is right, you should never come out and show up a teammate, especially since Murphy had the only two RBI’s in johnas other start. He should came out and saidd we win as a team and lose as a team. I have no time to make a real post about heading to Citi Field, but will later tonight when I return hopefully from a Met win.
