Both Jose Reyes and Ryan Church head to the DL as OF Fernando Martinez and SS Wilson Valdez will join the big club. Valdez was acquired for cash from the Indians, he’s basically a defensive player according to Omar. Valdez was also featured in a skit done by Tom Green on MTV, where Green was the P.A. announcer for the Staten Island Yankees. Green would announce the names of the players during the bat and say, “let’s send Valdez back to the bench.”

Carlos Beltran will be out until at least Friday and received a cortisone shot, thankfully it’s not a more serious an injury. Sheff will play left and Martinez in right, batting sixth.

“It happens to every club,” Minaya said. “You have to ride it.” Said Manuel: “It gives us flexibiilty, which we haven’t had for a while. At the same time you lose a couple of real good pieces to the team.”

Finally made some roster moves which this team desperately needs. Will be interesting to see what Martinez brings to the table.
