Johan Santana will take the mound and look to sweep the Nationals out of CitiField tonight. Baseball is a funny game, the Mets have made 12 of their 35 errors this season while Johan has been on the mound. Comparatively speaking, when last night’s starter Livan Hernandez pitches, they have made zero errors. Santana is finally getting some run support though when he pitches at least with 12 runs of supports in last two starts.
His last start was a tremendous performance against the Red Sox at Fenway. The Mets had lost four in a row at that point. And Johan willed the Mets to victory. He’s done it time and time again, prolonged winning streaks and stopping losing streaks. Could it only be a matter of time before he’s being considered for MVP and the Cy Young award??
The Mets will face the Nationals top pitchinig prospect in Jordan Zimmerman. He’s been inconsistent this year. But one of his two victories came at New York on April 26, when he gave up one run and six hits in 5 1-3 innings of an 8-1 win.
