Johnson handles Mets again

Josh Johson is now 6-0 vs. the Mets lifetime in eight career starts. He continued his dominance pitching seven strong innings allowing only five hits and 2 runs to get the win today. Tim Redding pitched miserably for his second straight outting getting tagged with all seven Marlin runs in four innings as the Mets lost 7-3.

The only positives were that the bullpen pitched well and Fernando Martinez went 2-4 inlcuding his first major league hit, though he struck out to end the game. Other than that, it was a relatively listless loss.

Was it me, or did Jerry and the Mets pretty much waive the white flag before the game even started? I understand giving, Wright, Castillo a day off and getting Schneider’s lefty bat in against the righty today but that lineup was pretty weak. Beltran was also pulled early but it was 7-2 by that point. I’m sorry, but when I first saw that lineup against Johnson and Tim Redding pitching, I fully expected what happened today to happen. Oh and they brought back the Sweet Caroline sing a long, this time in the 5th. Ugh.

The Mets will try to take the rubber game tomorrow with John Maine matching up against Chris Volstad.
