The Mets open a seven game road trip with Livan Hernandez facing Ian Snell. The Mets have to feel good about themselves winning 7 of 9 overal. If they can take advantage of the weak schedule and win 5 out of 7 here, I’d feel pretty good about the team heading into a matchup with the Phillies next Tuesday at home.
Here’s tonight’s lineup, Beltran is out again with that stomach virus. Angel Pagan will be placed on the DL, Reyes and Church are playing in a game in FL tomorrow and should be ready to return this weekend.
Castillo, 2b
F. Martinez, rf
Murphy 1b
Sheffield, lf
Wright, 3b
Reed cf
Valdez, ss
Schneider, c
Hernandez, rhp

7 games in 7 days at Pitt and Wash… Anything less than a 5-2 is unacceptable.
Not if J.J. can help it! Good thing he was able to tweak his mechanics earlier today.
I knew the Mets were losing once Manuel decided to sac bunt with reed. r u kidding me? its a 2 run game y u giving outs away? Be aggressive and send wright on a sb or do a hit and run, dont freakin sacrifice with ur 6 hole hitter. Which wouldve in turn prolonged the inning and the mets wouldve had to picn hit for feliciano and Putz wouldve started the inning rather than come into a world of trouble. I am not condoning Putz effort which was horrid but come on.
Ron Darling nailed with this comment tonight on the post-game: “Mets fans wished for a laptop and ipod for x-mas. They got the laptop in K-ROD and got an AM transmitter in JJ Puttz …
For someone who talked a good one in spring training, his stats are crappy … bet Omar is trying to put a deal together as we experience this (again). All that smack about him being a 9th inning guy doesn’t hold much weight right now. He needs to grow a pair and GET IT DONE!
