Pelf vs. Pirates Today

Mike Pelfrey will take the mound in an early start today, as the Mets try to salvage their last game in Pittsburgh before heading to D.C. Pelfrey must feel like Johan did earlier this season as he has not received much run support lately. He’s had four runs to work with in his last four starts.

The Mets are severely banged up with injuries. A win today would be nice heading into a three game set with the Nats this weekend. The Mets opted to keep their rotation in line, meaning Johan will still pitch next Tuesday at home vs. Phillies, then again on Sunday the 14th vs. the Yankees.

Yesterday, the Pirates traded their best player in Nate McClouth to the Braves for three prospects. Their bringing up one of their top minor leaguers in Andrew McCutchen.  GM Neal Huntington had the following to say, “Nate is a quality player and person, but tough decisions need to be made as we build and sustain a championship-caliber organization.”

Sustain a championship-caliber organization? I almost laughed out of my seat when I read that. Anyway the Braves bolstered themselves with the best CF outside of Carlos Beltran in the NL and they also dumped Tom Glavine.  I think the Mets would go after Pedro before thinking about bring Glavine back.

Todays Lineup:

Cora, ss
Castillo, 2b
Beltran, cf
Sheffield, rf
Wright, 3b
Murphy, 1b
F. Martinez, lf
Santos, c
Pelfrey, rhp

for the record, that throw home by Murphy was the right play and although it was a little high, Santos should’ve caught it… him dropping it didn’t affect anything, but if you’re gonna blame anyone for the drop, blame Santos.

No I was talking about the ball that he committed the error that went for a triple for Nyjer Morgan, I think it set up the fifth run
