So ever since Johan Santana has joined the Mets I’ve been thinking of nicknames for the ace pitcher.  Last night after the game, speaking about pulled by Jerry, Johan said, “In that situation, I told him I felt good, and I told him that I’m a man, that’s all I was doing. ”

So on that note I think my top nickname is plain and simple,

 Johan “The Man” Santana, but I also have thought of:

Johan “The Barbarian”

Johan “Supernatural” Santana (I don’t love it but I’ve heard it)

Johan “The Savior” Santana and finally

Johan “The Surgeon” Santana (He carves ‘em up and always stops the bleeding)

This could be the dumbest post I’ve ever made, but it’s also fun. Nicknames and sports always go hand and hand. I remember one dominant Met pitcher in the 80’s who had a pretty famous one.
