The bounce back boys won again after another toss loss. The Mets have come back a few times after terrible losses this season. Fernando Nieve has had two of those wins. Nieve once again came through after a tough loss, this time throwing six innings of one run ball, as the Mets won 5-3. Maybe John Maine can get some extra rest, because Nieve deserves to continue to start.
Brian Schneider came through with a three run homer and Ryan Church had a key insurance RBI in the eighth. The offense did enough and after a horrible outing last night, Frankie Rodriguez came back with a 1-2-3 9th inning. Of some concern was another troublesome outing by Bobby Parnell. In four out of his last five outings he’s allowed at least one run. It could be a bit of dead arm period. The kid was all-world early on and could be wearing down a bit. Luckily, Sean Green has picked up the bullpen slack for Parnell. Green struck out the side in the eighth.
A good win to start the home stand. It really does surprise me how well this team has seemed to let bad losses roll off their shoulders. Call it grit or a short memory but this bodes well for the future. I still believe a trade needs to be made though. The Phillies lost their fourth in a row, this time against the Orioles. The Mets are now two games back of first. Mr. Santana will go tomorrow against Jaimie Shields.

Nice to see our #1 starter pitcher and then K-ROD to close it up tonight. Not to mention Mr. CLUTCH’s (K-Wright) 3Ks to add to the offense. Hope our #3 Johanna will keep us rolling tomorrow!
