Per Baseball America the Padres are bringing up their top hitting prospect Kyle Blanks. Blanks, 22, was hitting .283/.393/.485 with nine doubles, 12 home runs and 38 RBI for Portland. The 6′6″, 285 lb. slugger can play left field or first base. San Diego isn’t calling him up to sit on the bench, so could a corresponding move be made down the line? The Padres season is all but done with Jake Peavy going down for 8-12 weeks and their next best pitcher Chris Young also has shoulder inflammation.

I really hope Omar is burning up the phone line to the west coast. Could the Padres trade their best offensive player in Adrian Gonzalez?
