Remember when the Mets scored eleven runs a few days ago? The Mets have been out hit 24 to 4 and out scored 14-1 over the last two days by the Yankees, as the bats have gone ice cold. This time A.J. Burnett was the one to silence the Mets. The Mets got one hit tonight, Alex Cora provided the lone single in the 6th. David Wright and Ryan Church are 0 for 15 in the series now.In a word, Gross.
GM Omar Minaya has mentioned he will work on getting a bat. Offense is exactly what’s needed right now and has been needed for some time. Like I’ve said before, unless you’re giving up on the season now, a trade is needed as soon as possible, let’s go Omar, wake up! Prospects get GM’s fired. Mark DeRosa a good offensive, versatile player was traded to the Cardinals today for reliever Chris Perez and a player to be named later. Not exactly a king’s ransom for DeRosa, a player the Mets could have desperately used. Get your head out of the clouds Omar, please!
When Carlos Beltran went down, I said it will get a lot worse before it will get better. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Mets got no hit at this point. The offense is miserable, we’re really putting a Quadruple-A lineup out there. It’s just frustrating all around. The Phillies won today, the funniest part of it all is we’re only 1 1/2 games out of first place, although I really don’t remember the last time we actually were in first.
The worst part is, if we don’t make the playoffs the entire organization will be given a pass, when in reality it’s still within our grasp, and who pays for it? Of course we, the die-hard fans. I know it’s still early in the season, and the emotional roller coaster am sure still has many peaks and valleys, let’s hope the season ends on a peak this year.
Yours truly will be there tomorrow night as the Mets look to salvage the series against the Yanks, Livan vs. Wang 8:05p.
