Pelfrey Ends Streak

June is done and July is a new month for the Mets. Big Pelf proved me wrong and led the Mets to victory this afternoon. I had predicted a Met loss today, but I am glad I was proven wrong. Maybe the team meeting did something yesterday. It was a pitcher’s duel and Pelfrey out pitched Brewer ace Yovani Gallardo. Gallardo struck out 12 but Pelfrey didn’t allow a run.

Huge win for the Mets to end the five game skid. The problem is to win the game they had to play near perfect baseball to do so. There was no margin for error although D. Wright did make one, that didn’t cost them. Thankfully, they scratched out a run. Key double plays helped Pelfrey. Brian Schneider threw out Prince Fielder on the basepaths to kill a rally in the 7th. The throw out came after Pelfrey got a case of the yips and balked Fielder into scoring position. Onto Pennslyvania, Pirates for one tomorrow afternoon and Phillies for three this weekend. A winning streak now would be tremendous.
