Swept Away

Any optimism the Mets and their fans had going into this weekend series in Philly has been wiped away quickly. The Mets have now lost 8 of 10 games after being swept by the first place Phillies and are now four games behind them.

Santana pitched well allowing only three hits and two runs but the Mets were shutout. And here I thought Citizens Bank ballpark was a hitter’s park. The Mets only scored three runs in three days, almost laughable. The double plays are probably the most frustrating part, because you predict them and it happens on que every time.

Let’s all come to the reality this is now and has been a Quadruple-A team. Lets just accept losses and any win we get is a bonus. Go into the game expecting a loss because more than likely that’s what’s coming and maybe you won’t feel as bad when it happens. I’m at a loss for words now, I might be at the acceptance point in the season where maybe it’s just not meant to be. I hope it’s not the case but losing 8 out of your last 10 games has to kill the confidence in the team and it’s fans. Back home Tuesday after a day off tomorrow. Doesn’t get any easier with the N.L.’s best Dodgers and Manny Ramirez in town. The all-star break can’t come any faster.
