Pipe Dreamin’

The Mets return home for a 10 game homestand vs. the NL Wild Card leading Rockies. 21 of the next 28 games on the Mets schedule are at CitiField. It’s funny what winning one series this past weekend can do to the hopes of Mets fans. All of a sudden some where in the back of everyone’s mind is, well if we can take the series from the Rockies we can make up ground, maybe the offense stays hot and we get some players back etc. Matt Cerrone of MetsBlog has written that the Mets need to win approximately 45 of the next 65 games to win the NL Wild Card.

Come on guys, let’s stop pipe dreaming and face reality. Don’t get me wrong I’m pulling for a miracle and it would be tremendous to see this team come together and make a run, but I just don’t see them doing it. Winning two games in a row, in a hitter’s ball park is not restoring any confidence in my feeling that this team can go on a serious run. Now, if they somehow win 7 of the next 10 at home, come back to me.

I’ll be hoping and rooting tonight at CitiField. I’m on vacation from work so I’ll be going to the game tonight before I head out to San Francisco later this week. My sister-in-law and Pessimet graphic designer Kanika Rehani is celebrating a big birthday, so my wife and I will be joining her on a road trip out to Cali

I am going tonight with tickets that were won for free by my brother at the SNY viewing party two weeks ago. I bought two extra tickets, below face value on stub hub so that my mother-in-law, who’s visiting can check out CitiField for the first time. If you still haven’t been to CitiField here’s a nice guide written up over at Metsgrrl.
