So by now most of you have heard about yesterday’s press conference. The press conference regarding the firing of Mets VP Tony Bernazard. The press conference that quickly turned into another controversial issue from the Mets.
Adam Rubin of the Daily News, whom I reference a lot, broke the stories regarding Bernanzard and the minor league incident as well as Bernazard and the CitiField seat incident and a few other articles on Bernazard’s inappropriate behavior.
Omar made the comment at the press conference that after reading these articles from Rubin,” he scuffled with it.” Saying Rubin had been lobbying for a position in the same department that Bernazard was in. Basically insinuating that Rubin wrote these articles to get Bernazard fired.
What is it a dumb move by Omar to call out a journalist by name? Absolutely. Is the media going to totally blow this out of proportion because one of their own brethren was called out by name? Yes of course. Will this turn into a witch hunt against Omar? Maybe, I’ve seen the New York media do worse. I, like others, hope we can move past this quickly and go back to baseball though.

This site below makes a great analogy to the alliance of NY media against Minaya. His feeble attempt to throw Rubin under the bus and use him as a scapegoat was pathetic.
