3:49p The Mets will look to continue their hot hitting when they face the ace of of the Rockies staff in Jason Marquis. Marquis is tied for the most wins in the league with 12. His last scheduled start was pushed back till today due to a blister on the middle finger of his pitching hand. Marquis says his blister has improved but not 100%.
“The big thing with me is as long as I don’t have to alter my mechanics and take away from my pitches, that’s what I’m looking for,” Marquis told the Rockies’ official Web site. “The way it felt, can I say it’s 100 percent? No, it’s not 100 percent.”
Marquis is actually a native New Yorker who born in Manhasset, Long Island and grew up in Staten Island. He was a Yankees fan growing up. And the Rockies also have another New York son from Long Island on their roster, in Matt Daley. Daley grew up a huge Met fan unlike Marquis. As a rookie he’s done well out of the pen for the Rockies. He was born in Garden City. There were a few fans out in right field with Daley jersey’s last night but had Mets gear on as well, so I had to assume Daley was from NY. I’m also almost positive Daley was the one who was wearing a bright pink back pack on his way to the bullpen as part of his rookie hazing.
Big Pelf will take to the mound vs. the Rockies. He went 7 innings and allowed three runs vs. the Nats his last time out in a losing effort. Hopefully, he can keep us in the game tonight. As is always the case it starts with the starting pitching. Same lineup tonight except for Schneider replacing Santos:
Pagan CF, Castillo 2B, Wright 3B, Murphy 1B, Francoeur RF, Sullivan LF, Schneider C, Cora SS, Pelfrey RHP.

It‘s quite in here! Why not leave a response?
