Anyone who has been a constant reader of pessimets.com’s inaugural year has seen that starting from the beginning of the season I would at least make a post every week or so. For the last couple of months I have not made a post or even commented on the website even though I visit the website every day. The last couple of months I have only watched four or five full games and have been watching some of the games recently but not in their entirety.
I have been a Mets fan my whole entire life through the bad times (Art Howe years) and the good time (2000 World Series and 2006 Division Champion Season). I remember during the bad years I still was able to watch every single game. This year I just can’t stand watching the Mets but I still manage to look at the boxscore every day in Newsday, read articles Dom posts on pessimets, read articles on metsblog, and watch the highlights on ESPN.
I don’t know but for the last three months I just don’t care what the team does or the outcomes of their games. I was excited for the first month or so of the season which lead me to go to five Mets games in a span of a month or so but since the end of May I have not gone to a game and I don’t plan on going to a game this year. I don’t know if I have lost all interest in the Mets this year because I miss Shea Stadium, have been at the last game of the year for the last three years starting from game seven of the 2006 championship series, or all the problems with this team this year have really annoyed me. Don’t get me wrong I think Citi Field is a great place but to me it feels too corporate and the building does not get as loud as Shea Stadium did.
I guess next year, hopefully, if a winning team is on the field the atmosphere will change around Citi Field but this season I feel like one lost Mets fan who has lost all hope in the team on the field, the front office, the medical staff, and most importantly the owners. I know some people will say I am acting like a child and should just suck it up and if I was a real Mets fan I would still be rooting for them but I have done that in the past ever since I was a little kid but now as I get older I am gettting tired of the same old Met teams.

I feel your pain Rob, this year was just different from start to finish…There was never ANY consistency…Just many ups and downs from the horrible April to the Amazing May and back down with all the injuries..Fans never got a chance to really get involved…
