Wake Me When It’s Over

Not quite the excitement I thought September 1st would bring when I was thinking about making this post earlier in the year. Instead, this September during every Met game at CitiField I nominate a new song to be sung during the 8th inning sing-a-long. I’m nominating “Wake me up when September Ends” by Green Day.

Seriously, everybody has put the Mets on snooze. Baseball just doesn’t feel the same. I plan on watching baseball a little more seriously in October, hoping and praying the Yankees lose in the first round, or just hoping they lose at some point. My dream matchup would be Yankees vs. Dodgers in the World Series, titled Torre’s Last Laugh. The biggest dilemma, and worst case scenario for a Met fan would have to be a Yankees/Phillies World Series. I’m really not sure what I would do there, probably just tune out of sports media for a while if that ever happened.

So that’s all we have to look forward to now, hating on other teams. Well, that and football, thankfully the NFL is around the corner. Wake me up when the season ends!

  2. [...] Back on September 1st I wrote about the dilemma which is looking more and more like a nightmare reality for Met fans. The baseball gods just won’t let us Met fans rest in peace even after our horrific season has come to a close. I am speaking of course of a possible Phillies/Yankees World Series. Now I’ve spoken to a few Met fans at length about this and many seem to be split. It has become a scary hot topic amongst the Met fans in the blogosphere. Ed Leyro over Mets Merized Online talks about Why We Can’t Have a Yankees-Phillies World Series. Lisa Swan of The Faster Times interviewed some fellow Met bloggers regarding this horrific topic. [...]
