The Joys of Hatin’

Saturday’s Met-Phils game was the first in a long, long time that I would not have regretted watching. I’ll admit, I’m already in full football mode, and have been for sometime. Call me a fair-weather fan if you want. But even seeing the highlights from yesterday’s game was sweet. Yes, it’s petty and haterish, but seeing D-Wright and the Mets stick it to the Phils in the late innings made me cheer out loud. We all know that Lidge is back to not being lights out, and his replacements have stumbled, but I’ll be the first to admit that’s it’s way too soon to say that the Phils are really and truly stumbling, or to even think of uttering the “C” word.

Still, watching what’s left of the Mets, (who have nothing to play for at this point) embarrass the Phils in their own house and add to their not insignificant bullpen worries was nothing short of awesome. For better or worse, I feel like I haven’t had the bittersweet pleasure of watching my teams play the spoiler very often. To me, a true spoiler is a team that has nothing to play for except ruining some other team’s chances for bigger things. So if my team is actually bad enough to be in that position I probably don’t want to watch anyway. But maybe I can start to dream about the Mets as spoilers. And while it might make me a hater, if there is one thing that would give me a reason to hold my Mets cap-wearing head up a little higher after such a disastrous season, it would be the Mets in some small way making the Phils sweat a little. Misery loves company I guess. And if the Mets could actually do something to significantly hurt their rival’s quest for a repeat? Not very likely, I know, but I can dream, right?

Tsk tsk Dominic. You can watch reruns of Saturday’s game while I’m watching our second straight World Series victory parade.

And do you want to talk football? We barely needed a quarterback the way our D played. And will continue to play, not that there’s anything wrong with Kolb and Vick waiting in the wings (week after next) and Donny will be back before you know it.

It’s gotta suck to be a Mets fan.

Yes it does suck to me a Met fan, but its great to be a Giant fan…Really, Michale Vick is your savior??? Kolb is definitely not ready..Lights out Lidge will be putting the lights out at citizens bank after he blows a few games in the playoffs…As Ed said in the post, hes going to be getting ready for New Pujols nightmares….You’ve corrupted my Godson and cousin somehow with your Philly propaganda but Ill see to it that my new niece doesnt follow in their ways! haha congratualtions

I was thrilled when Patrick told me he was coming over to the light. Ethan LOVES baseball. He watches so intently. I cannot imagine such a slow game keeping his attention like that. I’m trying to get “Lefty” Pinto to switch hit, but he’s resisting. He will be a Cy Young winner some day.

St Louis doesn’t scare me. God would never ever let them hurt us again. (The year between 1963 and 1965, which is never spoken aloud). I would like a Phillies-Yankees rematch of the 1950 series, where we lost 4 straight. I cannot wait!

    As for the Giants…..HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
