Pedro Martinez of the Phillies was pulled last night after throwing just three innings. He suffered a strained neck while swinging at the plate.

While I love Pedro Martinez, I couldn’t help but smirk when I heard the news. The image of Pedro Martinez injuring himself and crying on the Mets bench will be one Mets fans will soon not forget. That was always the problem with Pedro in his Met career, he started off well and then faded with injuries when the team needed him the most. It was actually more saddening than upseting. I would always imagine what a healthy Pedro could do to help stabilize things late in September, instead his injuries left the Mets scrambling over the past few years.

Love ya Petey, but it may be time to hang ‘em up, relax by the Mango tree and do some fishing.
