Beltran apparently had knee surgery through his own doctors after he began experiencing “osteoarthritis of the right knee” several weeks ago “to the point where pre-spring training conditioning became too painful.” He will be out 12 weeks, missing at least the first month of the season.
Wow, this came out of no where, just when we thought the injury bug was behind us. I don’t think I can go through another injury plagued season to the all-stars on this team.
So, what now. Do we go out and sign Rick Ankiel or Xavier Nady? I think Cory Sullivan is still out there. Of course, Angel Pagan will most likely start in center if no one big is signed. And of course Angel will probably get hurt relatively quickly. This is just a rough way to start 2010. Ugh.

I dont understand why this wasnt done last season. Another brilliant move by the Mets medical staff thinking rest is the remedy. I remember seeing microfracture surgery as an option in July. Now he gets his knee scoped? This is not a one or two month thing. Beltran will not play an inning of baseball this season. UUUGGGGHHHHHHH….
THE WORST ORGANIZATION IN PROFESSIONAL SPORTS FROM OWNERSHIP TO JANITOR.
Mets conference call at 2pm by John Ricco. Where is Omar or Wilpon to answer questions? Just another way these people dont know how to run a business or a company or a baseball organization. SOOOOO AGGGGGRRRAAAVVVAATTEEDDDD
I think MLB channel should make a reality show about what really goes on in the Mets front office. It will be comparable to MTV’s Jersey Shore, however the Jersey Shore cast would look more intelligent than Omar and the crew.
Just like they shouldn’t have toyed with Reyes hamstring injury, and just had him go under the knife and get it repaired.
Aaron Boone came back from open heart surgery quicker than Reyes did from a damn hamstring for pete’s sake !!!
If the Mets can really mess something up they usually manage to do so, but at this point does it really surprise you? I mean if something like this happened to the yanks i’d be surprised but c’mon we’ve come to expect stupid things to happen to the Mets that get drawn out in the media
their PR dept is pathetic. They just should have released a statement and took care of business behind doors rather than stirring up a pot of shit in the media. No it does not surprise me. I can’t wait till the wilpons eventually get fed up and clean house. I think that they should just let the members of the 86 team that hold coaching jobs run the organization. Obviously not degenerate dykstra and straw and gooden to name a few.
