According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, Terry Collins is preparing to name Luis Hernandez the starter at second base, a source with direct knowledge of Collins’ plans told The Post yesterday. Puma goes on to say the move would depend on if Terry Collins can convince upper management to do so.
No one has stood out this spring at second base. It will be interesting to see who gets to start, which it seems will be basically by default at this point. We know Riccardi loves Emaus, Castillo is the old vet but no fan wants to see him, Murphy is likable but can his defense is a concern.
So Luis Hernandez is a distinct possibility. Either way, I think the team does need to move on from Castillo, they need to get rid of some of the older vets who are not going to be in the long term plans who are taking up cap space one way or another.

I would rather see second base be an experiment, and some young players play with heart to try to earn their keep rather than an old has been that has no range take it for granted that he is the starter based on years past.
About time.
